Time Lesson times are 30 minutes in length unless otherwise specified. Lesson times cannot be extended if you are running late to a lesson. If you are having difficulty with your current lesson time, please talk with me about a new time.
Note: All parents/guardians are welcome at any time to observe.
Cost 30-minutes weekly: $15 per lesson
45-minute weekly: $25 per lesson
Available Lesson Discounts: Sibling discount: 10% off each additional child’s tuition (up to a 30% discount)
Payment Tuition is to be paid on the first lesson of the month. Tuition is calculated based on the number of lessons given per month. A late charge of $5 is added when tuition payment is not received by the 10th of the month. At that time, no further lessons will be given until your account is paid in full. Payment may be made with either cash or check. Any checks that are returned for insufficient funds will incur a $20 charge to cover bank fees. Please make checks payable to Amanda Herb.
What Does Tuition Cover? Tuition reserves your weekly time slot and studio membership. It also covers the cost of: Lesson planning and repertoire selection Piano maintenance Recital venues and programs Incentive programs Game materials
*Note: Tuition does not include the cost of music. Students should expect to spend approximately $50 per year on repertoire.
Missed Lessons/Make-Up Lessons Lesson times are standing appointments; a student’s lesson time is reserved for only them each week, and it is their responsibility to attend. Dance classes and sports teams do not offer reimbursements if you cannot attend a rehearsal or game – music lessons are no different. Because specific times are set aside for specific students, a student who does not attend a lesson will simply miss the benefit of that lesson. I will then use that time or other times to plan for the student’s progress, locate materials, etc. Please be assured that tuition pays for far more than the time spent during lessons.
Lessons canceled with twenty-four (24) hours advance notice will be rescheduled schedule permitting. No refunds or credits will be given for lessons canceled without twenty-four hours’ notice. If a make-up lesson is not possible, you will still be charged for the missed lesson. If you think you will be delayed, please call to let me know if you will be coming.
Holiday/Studio Breaks/Teacher Cancellation Please note that the studio is not closed on every national holiday. Sometimes students will have lessons on a day when there is no school.
The studio is always closed on: New Year’s Day Memorial Day 4th of July Labor Day Thanksgiving/Black Friday Dec. 23rd – Jan 1st
Additional Studio Breaks or days off will occur and are always announced well in advance. The calendar is subject to change.
In the event that I need to cancel a lesson, a makeup lesson will be arranged. If a makeup lesson is too difficult to arrange, a lesson credit will be issued for the following month.
Discontinuation of Lessons Music is a lifelong pursuit, but lessons are not always possible for a multitude of reasons. Whatever the reason, I will never take discontinuation of lessons personally. Please remember - if you are unsatisfied with your lessons for any reason or if you are contemplating quitting lessons, please speak freely to me about your concerns.
Discontinuation of lessons requires a 3 week notice – This gives time to wrap up any current projects and discuss how the student can continue to follow their music goals. This also allows me the necessary time to fill that empty lesson slot so that I can avoid a loss in income. Thank you for your consideration.
Parental Involvement Parental support is crucial to the success of each student. The assignment notebook is our means of weekly communication about expectations, assignments, scheduling reminders, and progress.
Practice Time To make good progress, practice is necessary. The amount of practice time needed depends upon the student's level and goals. I recommend that students practice a minimum of 5 days a week (that doesn't include the lesson). Parents please remember that children are rarely self-motivated and lack the maturity (and self-discipline) to put in that all-important practice session. Please set up a practice time for your child that is part of the daily routine.
Recitals Students are highly encouraged to participate in studio recitals which typically occur twice a year.
It is my sincerest hope that you understand the necessity of establishing a studio policy. If you have questions regarding this policy don’t hesitate to call. Welcome to the Studio.
